Home Prices are Still Holding up Above Last Year’s Level

Good morning,

The housing market continues to soften under the pressure of higher mortgage rates. While home prices have eased over the last couple of months, they are still holding up above last year’s level. Combined with the highest interest rates in nearly a decade and a half, affordability challenges continue to mount for many.

Micron will invest as much as $100 billion to build a semiconductor-manufacturing campus in Clay, upstate New York (Just north of Syracuse, 4.5 hours drive from Manhattan), adding to a wave of chip-making plans in the U.S. as Washington tries to boost domestic manufacturing of those critical components. This will be the largest semiconductor-fabrication facility in the U.S., with production starting in 2024. Micron’s plan represents the largest private-sector investment in NY state history and would solidify New York as a global manufacturing hub. (WSJ)
