Did You Know? Blackberry OS Support ended Tuesday, this week, and remaining die-hard owners of their devices won't be able to make or receive calls, send texts, use wi-fi or access mobile data. (Sorry Phil A) When the iPhone was launched in 2007 - just 14 years ago - it was termed the "Blackberry-Killer".......ironically, this week Apple became a THREE trillion dollar market-cap company, the size of Portugal and Spain's GDP..... COMBINED!
Now more about Apple. The company, which has tripled in value over the last four years, now accounts for 7% of the S&P 500 index. Even more impressive, it’s worth almost as much as all 2,000 companies on the small-cap Russell 2000, which are worth $3.5 trillion combined.
Did You Know? Home Depot was the shining star of the DOW in 2021 as US homeowners expanded on the 2020 theme of HOME.... If Home Depot's net earnings were up over 20% in Q3 2021 compared to Q3 2020, surely one could deduce that its 6% increase in sales is producing much bigger PROFITS....how can you be that much more profitable if labor costs, supply chain issues, materials costs are so much higher? I'm confused......or am I?
Did You Know? Which is the oldest luxury fashion brand still in operation today?
The French fashion house Hermès is the oldest still in operation today. The company was established by Thierry Hermès in 1837. Initially, the brand made luxury saddles and equestrian accessories, but eventually, they shifted their focus to leather bags. Their first bag was made to hold saddles but soon they were making stylish handbags. Today their most famous bags are the Kelly (named in honor of Grace Kelly) and the Birkin (named after English actress and singer Jane Birkin).
