- Insulate the home thoroughly, and seal windows and doors that let in heat.
- Position shade trees that block out the harshest sunlight.
- Use indoor and outdoor blinds and shutters/canopies.
- Use fans. They can make you feel 3-4 degrees cooler.
- Cook outdoors and avoid running dryers at peak heat.
- Keep windows and doors shut tight.
- Use LED and fluorescent light bulbs that emit very little heat.
