Hopeful Optimism

March 13, 2021
Good morning,

The economic landscape continues to provide signs of hopeful optimism. The labor markets posted further improvements with fewer workers filing for unemployment. Home sales rose during the first week of March compared with last year. Fewer homeowners are in forbearance with encouraging trends on how folks are getting back on track.

Have a great weekend!

Did You Know? Consumers saved $2.9 TRILLION during COVID.....brace yourself for that to be unleashed..... (Bloomberg)

Did You Know? Is the next Las Vegas.....New York City? It appears gaming is heading to the BIG APPLE.....supposedly 70% of voters back allowing two casinos to include live dealer table games.....Come 2023, New York can authorize as many as three full-scale casinos downstate. With Resorts World and Empire City expected to receive two of the permits, SANDS is a potential third. What happens in New York City, stays in New York City?

Did You Know? The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 3.05% for the week ending March 11, up to three basis points from a week ago. A year ago, the benchmark mortgage rate stood at 3.36%. The 15-year fixed-rate mortgage and the 5-year Treasury-indexed hybrid adjustable-rate mortgage both rose four basis points over the past week, to 2.38% and 2.77% respectively. Rising interest rates could moderate some of the extreme over-bidding we see in areas.....that's what it's designed to do!

The Aloha state was followed by California, New York, Minnesota, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Washington, Colorado, New Jersey, and Rhode Island to round out the top ten states where you’ll live the longest. (CNBC). I wonder what it is in Emerald Bay…. I bet we outlive most with our amazing healthy lifestyle.

A Little Music to Start the Day
The Danish National Symphony Orchestra

54 years ago when tough guy Clint Eastwood was a mere 36, he starred in the spaghetti western classic, "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly!"  Some may remember the film and are enveloped by the story.....while others reflect on the theme song for that motion picture.....which was indeed a cut above the rest! (Composer Ennio Morricone passed away July 6, 2020, at the age of 92.)

For those who might enjoy seeing how that theme was performed, this is your lucky day!  Eli Wallach passed away in 2014 at age 98 while Lee Van Cleef died in 1989 at 64. It was a great theme song.
