DID YOU KNOW ? Rick Caruso, you know, the guy with the gigantic yacht often anchored in Emerald Bay….. He is developing Palisades Village, a new 125,000sf outdoor 'mall' in an attempt to re-conceive the shopping center at a time when retail is being redefined by digital. The Village is designed to look and function like a small town, albeit one where the sodas are small-batch draft, the bakery is gluten-free, and there’s a space for the annual 60-foot Christmas tree. There are a grocery store, a 5-screen movie theater (named Bay Theatre for a local establishment that closed in 1978) and eight luxury apartments. There is even leasable office space. The aim was to make shopping more of an experience, featuring stores with a localized flavor. (WSJ)

DID YOU KNOW ? Retail sales between November, 2017 and January, 2018 climbed 5%, totaling $1.05 trillion. This year they are expected to rise another 5 - 5.6%. What is Sally’s fund? Sally’s Fund was founded (by Ann and Walter von Gremp, an Emerald Bay Family) in 1982 and is an outreach program that helps frail seniors with a variety of life’s challenges. Sally’s Fund provides transportation to events at the Susi Q Senior and Community Center and various appointments.

Orcas Make Rare Appearance

A pod of orcas showed up off San Clemente, heading north through Dana Point and Laguna Beach, on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018, giving a rare glimpse as they passed through Orange County.
